Unique Experience for High School Students

Students age 14-17 from across Canada have the opportunity to explore the nation's capital, meet other teens from around the country, explore career pathways, and develop their leadership skills with Encounters With Canada. The program - which has run for 37 years - is a unique week-long experience for high school students.

With 15 themes to choose from, there's something for everyone. Grade 11 F.P. Walshe student Nick Housenga attended a Medicine & Health session in September and enjoyed his experience with students from all across Canada. Other themes include Arts & Culture, Democracy & Youth, Global Affairs, Media & Communications, and Sports & Fitness. Sessions run from September to April each year.

LRSD Career Practitioners can help students determine if an Encounters With Canada experience is right for them. Subsidies for travel and registration are available, making the week in Ottawa an affordable opportunity. Talk to your School Practitioner about this unique experience or visit for more information.
